ChemTech Program Sequence - Level 1 Certificate - Pathway 2

Students achieving a Chemical Tech Level 1 Certificate will be able to apply basic chemistry principles and laboratory skills needed to safely work in a commercial chemical lab with direct supervision. 

The program sequence below is for Pathway 2 of the Beginning Chemical Technician (Level 1) Certificate. Pathway 2 is designed for students who are already pursuing an AS degree in chemistry.  Students pursuing the AS degree and/or transferring and wish to add a CHEMT certificate will likely have already taken higher-level chemistry courses.

* CHEM 300 with a grade of "C" or better completed within one year prior to enrollment in CHEM 400 or placement through the assessment process (ACS California Chemistry Diagnostic Exam) completed within one year prior to enrollment in CHEM 400 (students having taken CHEM 310, CHEM 305, or another chemistry course must complete the assessment process within one year prior to enrollment in CHEM 400) AND MATH 120 or MATH 124 with a grade of "C" or better, or placement through the assessment process. Both prerequisites will be checked at the beginning of the first class meeting.
