Internship Info Month

All students are invited to join us for a month of districtwide events hosted by the Los Rios Work Experience and Internship Program from each Los Rios campus. Our virtual internship information sessions will be hosted at 12:00 pm and will feature a virtual employer information session or skills workshop.
This is an excellent opportunity for students to learn about available, quality, local internships and the organizations who are offering them. Our kick-off event on Tuesday, March 2 called Internships 101 will help prepare you for the events happening all month.

Tuesday, March 2, 2021 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. Kick off Internship Info Month with Internships 101! What is an internship and how does this experience differ from a job? Learn about the virtues of internships, why they should be pursued and how to find, land and leverage them, especially for career success later in life. Monica Souza and Ashley Slovak, both part of the districtwide WEXP team, will breakdown the complexities of internships and help you understand why gaining this type of work experience can be life changing. Monday, March 8, 2021 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. Ashley Harris, Operations Director at CLA (CliftonLarsonAllen LLP), will present on building your marketplace value, workforce best practices, open positions at CLA, and their hiring practices. Join us for an engaging conversation about the world of professional services with an emphasis into the world of public accounting. Learn the many ways that you can gain some valuable work experience that may propel you into your inspired career. CLA exists to create opportunities for their clients, people, and communities through industry-focused wealth advisory, outsourcing, audit, tax, and consulting services. Cal Intern Network Presentation
Tuesday, March 9, 2021 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. The California Intern Network, operated by University Enterprises at Sacramento State, is one of the best places to start your internship search. The website features dozens of paid student assistant positions, many with State of California offices throughout the Sacramento area and throughout the state. These positions work around your school schedule and even offer 40 hours during summer and winter breaks.

Stanford Sierra Youth and Families Presentation
Thursday, March 11, 2021 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. Stanford Sierra Youth and Families will talk about their organization and the work they do with familes and youth in the community. They will discuss their internship program and the type of work interns are exposed to in the community. Learn about great opportunities for students majoring in social work, community services, and counseling.
Monday, March 15, 2021 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. Are you interested in an internship or job in manufacturing and production? Would you like to work for a dynamic and exciting local manufacutring design hub? Join us for a captivating virtual tour of Ansync's production lab in El Dorado Hills and an informational presentation on their current employment and internship opportunities. Ansync Labs is a small team of electrical, software, and mechanical engineers – backed by an in-house manufacturing machine-shop and electronics assembly line. Hear from SMUD employees regarding their experience and receive tips for your resumes, interviews, and career management. SMUD offers internships and scholarship opportunities for college students.
Kaiser Roseville Presentation
Thursday, March 18, 2021 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. The Kaiser Roseville presentation will include descriptions of service opportunities descriptions, the skills volunteers gain, hours for programs, commitment expectations, application, onboarding, and training requirements. Due to COVID-19, Kaiser hopes to resume onboarding new volunteers by fall or winter of 2021.
Greater Folsom Partnership Presentation

The Greater Folsom Partnership (GFP) creates and sustains the strong economic vitality of Folsom through its programs and services for businesses, residents, and visitors. Phil Scott, GFP Business & Economic Development Consultant, is a community leader, professional connector, and student intern supervisor. He will be presenting on the region’s immediate needs and the immeasurable benefits that are gained from immersing yourself in an internship role. This presentation will also feature Steve Brown, President & CEO of Portola Valley Partners, who will talk about the various opportunities they currently have available and the value that students bring from a start-up company's perspective. California Department of Justice
Wednesday, March 24, 2021 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. The presentation will highlight the various divisions within the California Department of Justice, student assistant positions, as well as the state application process and what it takes to be a competitive candidate for the State of California.
Intel Informational Presentation

Every summer, Intel graciously offers several students throughout the region the opportunity to participate in various internship programs. Though applications for 2022 are not available until this fall, Mark Fiori, Enterprise Business Planning – Regional Lead, and Christina Guerrera, Staffing Manager, will explain their annual summer internship programs, what Intel is looking for in a candidate, interview skills and best application practices.
