NUTR 336
This exciting, hands-on course will be taught, in person, on Fridays at the Davis Center.
We have lined up renowned speakers from the world of Beer and Brewing! NUTRI 336 is part of a Food Science degree that is being developed at SCC.
Transfer to the University of California at Davis (UC Davis)
This introductory course is equivalent to FST 3 - Introduction to Brewing and Beer at UC Davis.
A student who completes NUTRI 336, along with the science and math requirements for a Food Science degree, will be ready to transfer to UC Davis as a junior. Once there, you can choose a specialization, such as beer-brewing!
- describe the successive unit stages in malting and brewing.
- list the major ingredients used in the production of beer and identify the role of each ingredient (feeding yeast, providing flavor/odor compounds, etc.).
- outline the major styles of beer and state how they differ in their raw materials and production protocols.
- summarize the major factors that contribute to beer quality.
- indicate the relationship between beer composition and health.
