Eligibility to Participate
<p>Summer and Fall 2019 graduates and Spring 2020 candidates (who have petitioned with a college counselor for an associate degree by the March 1 deadline) may participate in the May 20, 2020 ceremony.</p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Friday, May 1, 2020 is the deadline to sign up to walk in the Commencement ceremony.</span></p>
Regalia (Cap and Gown)
<p>In order to participate in the ceremony, you must purchase your cap and gown in advance at the SCC College Store. The cap, tassel, and gown (black mortarboard, tassel, and black robe) are then yours to keep and are the required attire for the ceremony. You have an option to purchase the cap and gown set online, but make sure to give yourself enough time for shipping.</p>

<h4>Regalia Decoration</h4>
<ul>
<li>Students may decorate their caps. All decorations must be appropriate and respectful for the occasion.</li>
<li>Students may wear leis.</li>
<li>Students may wear tassels, stoles, or cords representing other student programs/affiliations that they are involved in, such as Phi Theta Kappa, Veterans, RISE, EOPS, Student Government, Nursing etc.</li>

Graduates
<p>Congratulations, graduate! You should plan to arrive in the South Gym with your cap and gown by 5 p.m. on the day of graduation. Check in with staff when you arrive for a name card and instructions on completing the name card and the walk to Hughes Stadium.</p>
Guest Information
<p>The Commencement ceremony will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2020, starting at 6:30 p.m., in Hughes Stadium at Sacramento City College.</p>
<h4>Parking</h4>
<p>Parking is free during the ceremony. However, all red (fire lanes), green (short term), and blue (handicapped) zones will be enforced.</p>
<h4>Tickets</h4>
<p>Sacramento City College’s commencement is not a ticketed event and there is no reserved seating. Guests will be able to select open seats on a first-come basis.</p>
<h4>Ceremony</h4>
<p>Hughes Stadium will open at 5 p.m and the ceremony will start promptly at 6:30 p.m.</p>
<p>Guests are to remain in the stands until the completion of the ceremony and should not block entrances, exits, walkways or the view of other guests.</p>
<h4>Accommodations for Guests with Disabilities / Accessible Seating</h4>
<p>Designated handicapped parking is available at Sacramento City College and Hughes Stadium is accessible to guests with special needs. Accessible seating locations are available for guests in wheelchairs or with limited mobility. The ceremony will also be signed in ASL at both corners of the stage.</p>
<h4>Drug, Alcohol, and Tobacco-Free Campus</h4>
<p>Consumption of or being under the influence of alcohol or other controlled substances while on campus is strictly prohibited. Smoking is also prohibited while on the campus.</p>
Diploma Covers
<p>You will not receive your diploma at the commencement ceremony. You will, however, receive a diploma cover. After grades for the Spring 2020 semester have been posted in early June, the Evaluations department will begin conducting final evaluations, followed by the posting of the degree on the transcript and ordering of diplomas. This is a lengthy process with many petitions to evaluate. Degree posting will occur by the start of August and your diploma will be printed by mid to late September. Summer and Spring graduates should have already received their diploma via mail.</p>

<p>Ultimate Exposures will be providing photographic services during the commencement ceremony. Graduates will receive an email from Ultimate Exposures following the ceremony with information on how to order.</p>
