Chemistry and Math Tutor

My name is Anna Magruder. I am currently pursuing an Environmental Science major and hope to one day find myself in a conservation-based career. I love camping, hiking, and rollerblading. As a student who had to put in extra work to succeed in my chemistry courses, I look forward to helping other students grasp those tricky concepts and fine tune their studying methods!

Korean Tutor

Hi everyone, my name is Jo and my major is Statistics and I’m planning to transfer to the university. I was born and raised in South Korea, so my first language is Korean. I hope I can help you to speak Korean well.

Jianan CaiJianan (Jackson)

Math Tutor

Hi, there. My name is Jianan Cai, but you can call me Jackson. I am majoring in Computer Science and Engineering and will be a math tutor to help you to understand the concepts, formulas, and theories in Math. Also, I would help to set up the goal and help you achieve the goal step by step. So, feel free to ask me if you have any questions about Math. I can speak Mandarin and Cantonese so you need to speak one of these two languages with me, please let me know. In my free time, I will play basketball a lot and sometimes I will travel with my family. Finally, My adage is no pain no gain. If you want to be successful, you have to put in your best effort.

Japanese/Early Childhood Education Tutor

Hi, I’m Khephra! Although the major doesn’t exist at SCC, when I transfer, I will be majoring in East Asian Language Studies with a minor in Japanese. I plan on getting my teaching credential and teaching English overseas, most likely.

I'm available to quiz you on current material, help you organize your notes as to what is most relevant to study, help you practice a speech/project, or just speak Japanese with you if you have some free time. Languages are difficult and require lots of practice! Online school is tough for all of us; sometimes it’s easier just to talk things through with someone. I’d love to help you with anything you might need in regard to your studies!

Spanish Tutor

“There is no better way to learn the norms of our culture than to visit another culture and see that its members do things that way, whereas we do them this way” - David Myers.

I have experienced two different cultures. One is my culture from Mexico where I was raised and the other is from the U.S.A. As a native Spanish speaker, I like to encourage people to learn Spanish and explore Latin culture. Because language affects our interactions with the rest of the world, we must value it. I am here to help and guide you during your language transition as you begin to construct multicultural connections.

Japanese Tutor

Hello everyone, my name is Mugita and this is my second year studying at SCC. I am planning on transferring to a 4-year university and receiving a bachelor's degree in International Studies. I was born in Japan, lived there for 5 years, and I continue to speak Japanese at home with my family. As a native speaker, I am excited to help students tutor Japanese so if you need help with anything regarding Japanese, please feel free to make an appointment with me and I will be happy to assist you!

Chemistry/Math/Physics Tutor

I can only imagine the stress you are going through right now. You can salvage the semester! I am here to help. My name is Robyn. I have been a tutor for quite some time outside of the LSTC and Los Rios school district. I can help with General Chemistry courses, math through pre- calculus and general physics. If you are struggling with course material, behind in assignments or just want help preparing for next week’s exam please reach out!

I have a relaxed approach to learning. I can explain most things multiple ways or bring in outside examples to help you understand things better. I also have the ability to break harder concepts into smaller, easier to digest pieces. During a one on one session with me you should expect; humor, friendliness and an overall caring atmosphere. You will be able to communicate your needs and I will fulfill them to the best of my capability. I look forward to meeting you via video call.

Biology Tutor

Hello there! My name is Ryan Louie. I love playing video games and watching anime. Recently, I have been getting into video editing ever since I built a new PC. An interesting bit about me is that I have a Bachelor’s Degree in bioengineering. I originally planned to apply to medical school to become a doctor. However, after some consideration I have changed my goals. My end goal now is to become a Physician’s Assistant (PA) so I am taking prerequisite courses through Los Rios. Currently, I work full-time as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). I have some background in the health-field so I can help with questions for students with similar goals. I look forward to working with you during your academic journey!

ANTH 300/PHIL 300/HIST 310 Tutor

Hi everyone. My name is Sean, and this is my second year here at SCC. I plan on transferring to a four-year university next year where I will either major in history or environmental policy. When I’m not doing work, I’m either watching videos about history or public transit (specifically trains). I have always been interested in social sciences, and I look forward to helping you with any difficulties you may have. Good luck with your semester!

Chemistry and Math Tutor

Hi there! My name is Venura Wijenayake, and I am an aspiring Computer Engineer. I've been a part of the SCC community for two years and have experienced being a STEM student myself. I understand that technical subjects can get difficult, but with enough patience it can also be quite enjoyable like solving a puzzle. My goal is to help you get there, so that you too can enjoy the process of problem solving! In my free time, I like to paint miniatures, play video games and occasionally build a few coding projects (Currently in C# and Python).

My interests include anything related to computers, cinema, art and music (I play bass). I wish you luck on your semester, and I look forward to meeting you all.
