Math/Stats Tutoring Lab

Home Student Resources Math/Stats Tutoring Lab

The Math/Stats Tutoring Lab is here to support and guide you when you need a boost in your math or stats class.

With accelerated or abbreviated classes in the summer, we offer online and in-person support for SCC students enrolled in math and stats classes.

Beyond accessing tutoring online or in-person to help you, we also have a safe space for you to:

  • sit and study alone or with friends
  • get a tour of campus
  • ask general questions
  • eat lunch
  • chill and rest
  • have coffee (we will make a pot of coffee in the morning upon request)

We also check out calculators and text for use in the lab.

Calculators can also be borrowed from the desk on the 2nd floor of the library for a semester. For those with basic food needs, we work to stock a donation-based supply for things like ramen and oatmeal. You can use this pantry the way that works best for your situation. Donations are accepted and access to food is given non-judgmentally.

We often have special events called “Math Jams” that will be advertised where you can really dive into your course to catch up or move ahead of the material in the class. As you approach your exams in the class, please come in and ask about us creating a review session/Math Study Jams for your course. We are inclusive of all students, and strive to have an intersectional perspective. Your perspective broadens ours.

How to Enroll

To enroll in the Math/Stats lab, you need to do two things:

1. Canvas

Sign up for the Canvas shell that houses resources, videos, and where a discussion board allows you to post questions after hours. Enroll and then rearrange your Canvas LMS dashboard so that we are up top along with your other summer courses

2. Intake Form

Complete our Intake Form to sign up for the lab. This will help us design a relationship with the math/stats lab, including building time to come in a couple of times a week or scheduling a biweekly online appointment.
