Home Academics Occupational Therapy Assistant Program Details

The Sacramento City College Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) program is a cohort-based model that prepares students to work with people of all ages who, because of physical, cognitive, developmental, social, or emotional challenges, need specialized assistance in order to lead an independent, productive, and satisfying life.

Students are expected to advance through the required curriculum each semester in the established sequence. The Allied Health and OTA courses are offered Monday through Thursday in the evening and on Saturdays. The program is offered in a hybrid format, partially online and partially on campus. For the online component, students must have access to a desktop or laptop computer; Google Chrome, a webcam, and a microphone for use with anti-cheating software; and reliable access to high-speed internet.

Introductory fieldwork observation (Level I) may include virtual and/or in-person experiences. Full-time fieldwork performance (Level II) must be in-person. Students should be prepared for no outside employment during two rotations of 8-10 weeks for Level II fieldwork.

The OTA program accepts applications one time a year, starting in late summer to early fall. Applicants must have prerequisites and graduation requirements completed at the time of application. Completed and in-progress work must be submitted on a Course Verification Form reviewed by a counselor.
