Work Experience Education and Internship Program

Campus Closure Notice

Due to the COVID 19 situation in the greater Sacramento area, we are no longer having in-person meetings or appointments or events (until further notice). We are moving all Work Experience and Internship Program services online.

Employers that would like to set up an internship or have questions about internships AND Students wanting assistance getting an internship or have questions about your current internship, please call or email us:

For all WEXP students currently in a WEXP (work experience course), please contact your current WEXP (work experience instructor) on CANVAS.

The Work Experience Education & Internship Program helps you gain valuable hands-on skills and even earn college credits for getting experience in your field.

To be eligible for an internship or Work Experience Education Course you must:

  • Have a declared major
  • Have completed at least one college semester
  • Completed 2 or more core classes in your major
  • Have a 2.5 GPA (or higher depending on the employer’s requirement)

Work Experience Education Courses

Enroll in a Work Experience (WEXP) course and you could earn 1-4 units of college credit for the work you’re already doing!

To be eligible for WEXP enrollment, students must be working in a job, internship or volunteer position related to your major before or at the time the course begins. WEXP courses do not provide job placement. If you need assistance finding a job, internship or volunteer position, visit the Work Experience Education & Internship Program office.

If you enroll in a WEXP course, you are required to attend an in-person class orientation facilitated by your instructor. The rest of the course will be held online.

Note: You do not need to be enrolled in a WEXP course to attend an orientation. If you attend an orientation prior to enrolling, then decide to enroll, the instructor at the orientation can provide enrollment information.

Find a Work Experience Class

Internships are a great way to get experience working in a field you’re interested in. An internship is a paid or unpaid position that gives you hands-on experience and an opportunity to network and build skills in the field! Working in an industry that you’re interested in also is a great way to help you decide whether it’s the right fit for you.

If you’re interested in finding an internship, visit the Work Experience Education & Internship Program office.
