Community Health Care Worker Program Details
Community healthcare workers (CHW) are frontline public health professionals. They assist others increase their health knowledge and gain independence.
The CHW typically has deep roots within the community they serve. As a result, they help others gain access to the health care, government, and social services they need for an improved quality of life.
Community Healthcare Workers are involved in a wide range of activities like community outreach, community education, informal counseling, and social support.

Steps to Apply to CHW
- Apply to SCC. Apply to Sacramento City College and obtain a student W-ID#.
- Review the CHW certificate requirements.
- Course Substitutions. Submit a Course Substitution Petition for any classes taken outside the Los Rios Community College District that you feel satisfy a CHW certificate requirement.
- Apply to CHW. Complete the Community Health Care Worker Application.
