Degrees and Certificates

With a variety of degree and certificate options, this program is designed to give students a flexible academic foundation to meet transfer requirements. For all students pursuing transfer to any four-year program or professional school, it is critical that students meet with a counselor because major and general education requirements vary for each college/university.

Associate of Science in Administration of Justice - Transfer Degree (AS-T)

For students who plan to complete a baccalaureate degree in criminal justice or a similar major at a California State University (CSU), The Associate in Science in Administration of Justice for Transfer (AS-T) degree is the recommended transfer pathway.

For the transfer to a University of California (UC) system please collaborate with your academic counselor.

Associate of Arts in Law, Public Policy and Society - Transfer Degree (AA-T)

Another option is the Associate in Arts in Law, Public Policy, and Society for Transfer degree (LPPS). This transfer degree offers courses that satisfy lower-division General Education requirements in both the physical and social sciences, providing students with a solid foundation in Law, Public Policy, and Society as well as the standard prerequisites for upper-division coursework leading to the baccalaureate degree.

Students planning to transfer to a CSU with a major in Law, Public Policy, and Society should consult the lower division requirements at the university they plan to attend. Through interdisciplinary studies in the administration of justice, political science, business, history, economics, sociology, global studies, and communications, students will acquire skills in critical thinking, persuasive communication, analytical writing, and a foundational understanding of the behavioral and social sciences.

Associate of Science Degree Administration of Justice

The general field referred to as “Administration of Justice” is directed toward the prevention, discovery, control, and treatment of crimes, criminals, and criminality and to consider contemporary issues of diversity and ethics. Students desiring to enter a career concerned with the administration of justice will find that this curriculum has flexibility that allows them to prepare for specific fields included in that broad category. Opportunities for college graduates include positions in local, state, and federal, law enforcement, courts and correctional services.

Legal Studies Certificate

The legal studies certificate is designed to enhance opportunities for employment in the legal profession.

Work Smarter, Not Harder!

We are excited to note that with a carefully planned course map students could earn two degrees and a certificate while taking classes that are stacked efficiently and effectively for completion. Strategic course completion plans could result in students simultaneously earning the AS-T in Administration of Justice, the AA-T in Law, Public Policy and Society, and the Legal Studies Certificate.
