Courses & Certificates

Sacramento City College offers an A.S. Degree in Graphic Communication for students who complete 60 academic units, including the general education requirements and any 21 units of coursework in Graphic Communication with a minimum grade of "C" or better.

Career Certificate (State Recognized): Students may earn a State-recognized Career Certificate by completing 21 units in the required program group with a minimum grade of "C" or better.

Career certificates provide documentary proof of student proficiency and skill as professional designers in their chosen area of concentration.

Certificate of Completion: The Graphic Communication Department offers 6 Certificates of Completion for students seeking to develop creative proficiency and marketability in specific program areas. Many students earn multiple Certificates of Completion during their GCOM experience.

GRAPHIC COMMUNICATION CATALOG INFORMATION

Important Note:

BEGINNING FALL 2011:
For new students beginning in the Fall 2011 semester the GCOM A.S. Degreee and Career Certificate will require 30 units of degree coursework. Also, the Certificates of Completion listed above will be phased out (except Web Design) and replaced with four new Certificates:
• Graphic Design (22.5 units)
• 3D Animation and Modeling (12 units)
• Video Game Design (21 units)
• Interactive Design (18 units)

More infomation on these new certificates will be available in Spring 2011.
